The Nasarawa State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in its fight against crime with the arrest of a suspected criminal and the seizure of a firearm and ammunition in the Karu Local Government Area. This operation, which took place on April 25, 2025, was part of ongoing efforts by the police to combat criminal activities in the state.
At around 10:30 p.m., officers from the Masaka Division, acting on the orders of Commissioner of Police (CP) Shettima Jauro Mohammed, launched a targeted raid on a notorious criminal hideout located in the Masaka area. The location, known as “Me and You,” had long been suspected of harboring illegal activities. The police raid aimed to disrupt these operations and ensure the safety of the local community.
During the operation, the police successfully apprehended 25-year-old Buhari Mustapha, a male suspect from Katsina State. A thorough search of the area led to the discovery of a Beretta pistol, which was English-made and had a breech number APL-C42201378075. In addition to the weapon, the police recovered 12 rounds of live 9mm ammunition. These items have now been secured as evidence for further investigation.
The police statement, issued by SP Ramhan Nansel, the spokesperson for the command, noted that CP Mohammed has directed a comprehensive investigation into the matter. The aim of this investigation is to track down any additional suspects linked to this criminal network and further reduce criminal activities in both the Karu area and the broader state.
The Commissioner of Police expressed his satisfaction with the operation, praising the officers for their professionalism in handling the raid. He further encouraged them to continue their efforts in the ongoing fight against crime in the region, underlining the importance of keeping pressure on criminal elements in Nasarawa.
