Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has said that he has not lost any true supporter who helped him achieve victory in 2022. He urged members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state to stay calm and not be worried about those leaving the party.
In a statement released by his spokesman, Olawale Rasheed, and made available to journalists in Osogbo on Saturday, Adeleke noted that the recent defections had, in fact, made the PDP stronger. He pointed to the spread of several development projects across Osun State as proof that the party remains solid and even growing.
Speaking on the recent happenings within the PDP, Governor Adeleke recalled how the party’s victory in 2022 came through the hard work and commitment of loyal members, despite opposition from within.
He said, “We know how we got to the Government House, and those God used to make it possible. We also know those who worked openly or silently against us. We are aware of those who opposed us then, but have now embraced our good governance agenda. We also have a verified list of those still opposing us.”
Adeleke further assured party members that new people were joining from other political groups, and the party was growing stronger every day. “We have increased in strength and support. We have not lost any genuine supporters from 2022 to date. Our good work has earned us even more supporters, partners, and goodwill across party lines,” he added.
He also said that his government treats every federal constituency equally. According to him, his administration has given important cabinet positions to people from various parts of the state to ensure fairness.
“Our infrastructure plan benefits every part of the state, and our local content programmes spread opportunities to all. We run a truly pan-Osun government,” the governor explained.
Governor Adeleke called on PDP members to stay strong, united, and focused. He appreciated the many endorsements his administration has received from different groups and promised to continue working on the Imole Agenda even beyond 2026.
He said, “As a government delivering on all fronts, we have the goodwill of the people. We must avoid distractions and intensify grassroots mobilisation. Within the context of the rule of law, we will soon resolve the standoff within the local government system.”
Adeleke praised the elected local government chairmen and councillors for their patience and sacrifice, noting, “We must maintain our democratic resilience to ensure the will of the people prevails at the grassroots.”
He also thanked those supporting his re-election bid and promised to stay loyal to the PDP and the people of Osun State.
“Our members should be assured that we remain focused and committed to building a strong PDP and sustaining a pro-people governance in Osun State,” Adeleke said.
