Annie Macaulay, the estranged wife of Nigerian music legend Innocent “2Baba” Idibia, made a bold confirmation of their divorce during the 17th edition of the Headies Awards held on Sunday night.
Taking the stage with Farooq Oreagba, who gained fame as the stylish “King of Steeze” at the 2024 Ojude Oba festival, Annie officially announced that she was reverting to her maiden name. While introducing herself before presenting the award for Best Afrobeat Singer of the Year, she made a noticeable slip.
“Annie Idi… Oh sorry, Annie Macaulay. Hey, single ladies!” she said, drawing loud cheers and applause from the audience.
Annie’s brief but striking statement publicly confirmed what had been rumored for months — the end of her marriage to 2Baba. Fans first started speculating about trouble when Annie returned to social media in March 2025 after a long break. She signed off her Instagram posts with the name Annie Uwana Macaulay, dropping “Idibia” entirely.
The marriage between Annie and 2Baba, which lasted for over a decade and produced two children, officially came to an end in January 2025. The singer had taken to social media earlier in the year to publicly announce their separation.
