Access Bank Responds to Allegations of Former Worker Secretly Filming Female Colleagues

Access Bank has addressed claims circulating on social media regarding a former employee who allegedly filmed female colleagues without their consent. These accusations, which involve a former contact centre agent, have raised concerns among the public and the bank’s stakeholders.

In a statement issued on Monday, Access Bank confirmed that it is aware of the disturbing reports and has already handed the case over to the relevant authorities for further investigation. The bank also stated its commitment to fully cooperate with the authorities as they proceed with their inquiry into the matter.

“Our attention has been drawn to reports circulating on social media regarding an alleged offence involving a former Contact Centre Agent,” the statement read. “The matter has been handed over to the appropriate authorities, who are conducting an investigation. We are fully cooperating with them in this process.”

Earlier reports from the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) indicated that the former employee, identified as Stephen Ejezie, is accused of secretly filming over 400 videos of his female colleagues. According to FIJ, these recordings were taken while the women were changing clothes or using the restroom, often using hidden cameras placed in private areas.

Despite the allegations and evidence gathered against him, FIJ noted that Ejezie has not yet been charged with any crime and remains free as of the latest update. This has raised concerns about the speed and nature of the legal process in dealing with such serious claims.

Access Bank took the opportunity to reiterate its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy regarding harassment and violations of privacy. The bank emphasized its responsibility to ensure a safe and respectful environment for both its employees and customers.

“At Access Bank, we uphold a zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and any form of privacy violation. We are also actively engaging with the affected employees to provide all necessary support. The safety, dignity, and well-being of our employees and customers remain our highest priority,” the statement continued.
