‘Let Your Work Speak for You’ – Tinubu Urges Governors

President Bola Tinubu has urged Nigeria’s state governors to focus on delivering results for their people rather than paying attention to critics. His call came during a two-day working visit to Katsina State, where he commissioned key infrastructure projects, including the newly completed 24-kilometre Eastern Bypass Road.

The road links Dutsin-ma Road to Yandaki in the Kaita Local Government Area and was delivered within 18 months by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s administration.

“Let the people be at the heart of your programmes. Your hard work and concrete achievements will answer any criticism. Ignore distractions — your results will speak for you,” Tinubu said during the ceremony.

In addition to the road project, Tinubu also inaugurated the Katsina Agricultural Mechanised Centre, which is expected to drive modern farming practices and improve food production in the state. He noted that such visible projects are evidence of serious leadership.

President Tinubu praised Governor Radda’s efforts in agriculture, healthcare, education, and infrastructure. He noted that within just two years in office, the Katsina governor had shown significant progress, even in the face of insecurity.

“We have decided for peace and stability. I know you face terrorism and banditry attacks in the state, but you have shown determination and courage to move Katsina State forward. You will not walk alone. The Federal Government will be with you,” Tinubu assured.

He further noted that hunger and poverty are still major threats to peace and national unity. Tinubu promised that his administration would continue to support food production and agricultural reforms. He pointed out that small and large-scale farming must be encouraged across the country.

“The economy is sailing in the right trajectory. We are witnessing an effort to banish hunger. Small and large-scale farming will be encouraged. Once we liberate ourselves from hunger, we will appreciate peace and harmony,” he said.

Tinubu also spoke about the need to leave behind outdated farming methods, stressing that agriculture must become more modern and efficient. He announced the restructuring of the Bank of Agriculture to help farmers with accessible loans and resources.

“The old style of agriculture is gone. We must invest in mechanisation and water management. Agriculture is the heart of our progress and must be for all,” he declared.

He urged other governors to take inspiration from the agricultural programmes in Katsina, calling them a “progressive movement.”

“You have introduced a great, progressive movement in Katsina State by just tilling the land and putting it to use. Farming will be our source of prosperity and growth. We must remove ourselves from reliance on oil and commit to agriculture,” he said.

President Tinubu also expressed gratitude to past governors and political leaders in Katsina, including Ibrahim Shema and Aminu Bello Masari, for their support during his visit.

“Thank you for the great honour you have given me. Your coming to the airport to receive me made me feel so welcome. I am your son, and I am one of you. This is homecoming, and Katsina is home — home to progress, development, and freedom for good,” he added.
