PDP Commends Mutfwang for Reducing Plateau’s Debt to N94bn

The Peoples Democratic Party in Plateau State has noted a major financial shift under the leadership of Governor Caleb Mutfwang, as the state’s debt burden has reportedly reduced from N134 billion to N94 billion in less than two years.

This development was made public through a statement issued by the PDP’s State Publicity Secretary, Jonathan Amande, on Monday. According to the party, the reduction signals what it described as a serious commitment to responsible governance and prudent management of state finances.

“The Peoples Democratic Party has expressed commendation to the people’s Governor, His Excellency Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, for his relentless efforts in reducing the state’s debt profile from N134 billion to N94 billion according to Nigeria’s Domestic debt in less than two years in office,” the statement read.

The party noted that the move marks a shift from the pattern of the past administration, which it accused of leaving behind a heavy financial load with little to show in terms of development. According to the PDP, the current financial discipline creates more space for meaningful investment in infrastructure and welfare projects.

In addition to financial matters, the PDP also reacted to recent cultural events in the state. It took aim at the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) for failing to participate in major cultural festivals, including Puuskat, Nzem Berom, and Ilum O’Tarok, which were recently celebrated across the state.

The PDP acknowledged Governor Mutfwang’s attendance at these events, noting his involvement as a show of respect for Plateau’s cultural identity.

“The PDP family commends Governor Caleb Mutfwang for Renaissance and gracing some of these cultural festivals as a mark of honour to the various cultural nations. The PDP looks forward to the state festival of art and culture that will bring together all the cultural festival in unison,” the statement added.

As part of its closing remarks, the party urged the people of Plateau to offer continuous prayers for the governor’s health and for the overall stability and safety of the state. It also encouraged citizens to actively support government-led initiatives, particularly in infrastructure, peace efforts, and economic programs aimed at improving daily life across Plateau.
