The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken former House of Representatives member, Muhammad Gudaji Kazaure, into custody in Kano State.
Kazaure, who represented the Kazaure, Roni, Gwiwa, and Yankwashi Federal Constituency between 2015 and 2023, is a known member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Over the years, he gained public attention for his outspoken remarks, especially on sensitive issues like corruption and national security.
A notable case involved his accusations against the former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele. On December 17, 2022, Kazaure alleged that N89.09 trillion in stamp duty revenue had been misappropriated, and further claimed that Emefiele held $171 billion in private investor accounts from stamp duty proceeds.
The CBN at the time quickly denied the claims, calling them baseless and untrue.
According to reliable sources, the EFCC had invited Kazaure for questioning at their Kano zonal office. He reportedly honored the invitation and arrived at the EFCC premises before being arrested.
Following his detention, he was immediately transported to Abuja for further investigation.
