President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sworn in new commissioners for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as well as members of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB). The swearing-in ceremony took place on Tuesday morning at the State House in Abuja, shortly before the beginning of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
The brief but formal event saw the induction of Mallam Tukur Abdulrazaq Yusuf, who will represent the North West in INEC, and Professor Sunday Nwambam Aja, chosen to represent Ebonyi State from the South East region. These two individuals now join the electoral body tasked with overseeing elections across the country.
President Tinubu also administered the oath of office to two new members of the Code of Conduct Bureau. The new CCB officials are Ikpeme Kenneth Ndem from Cross River State and retired Justice Buba Ibrahim Nyaure, who hails from Taraba State.
The President proceeded to chair what is the sixth Federal Executive Council meeting of 2025. The meeting brought together key figures in his administration to discuss current national issues and policy directions.
Among the notable attendees were Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume; Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila; and National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.
Other ministers also in attendance included Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy; Senator Atiku Bagudu, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning; and Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation.
It is expected that the FEC will continue deliberations on key policies affecting the economy, security, and governance.
It should be recalled that during the last FEC meeting held on May 5, the Council approved the ‘Nigeria First’ Economic Policy. That initiative aims to ensure government contracts and projects prioritize goods and services made within the country.
