NUC Grants Full Accreditation to 18 EKSU Programmes

The National Universities Commission has awarded full accreditation to 18 programmes at Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado Ekiti. This achievement follows an accreditation assessment conducted in October and November 2024 and represents a significant academic step forward for the university.

The confirmation was shared in a public statement by Bode Olofinmuagun, who heads EKSU’s Directorate of Information. According to him, the university received formal notification through a letter dated April 30, 2025. The document was signed by Abraham Chundusu, Acting Director of Accreditation at the NUC, on behalf of the Commission’s Executive Secretary.

In his statement, Olofinmuagun noted that this recognition strengthens EKSU’s reputation, aligning with its ranking by Times Higher Education as the top state university in Nigeria for 2025.

The 18 fully accredited programmes span several disciplines, covering both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The courses in the Administration field include M.Sc. Business Administration, Master of Personnel Management, M.Sc. Finance, Master of Public Administration, and Master of Business Administration.

Other accredited departments include those in the Arts—Arabic Studies, Islamic Studies, and Philosophy. The Education Faculty gained recognition for Building and Woodwork Technology Education, Electrical and Electronic Technology Education, Metal and Auto Mechanic Technology Education, and Education Christian Religious Studies.

Also listed were programmes in engineering and science, such as Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and Computer Engineering. The university’s Law, Geology, and Psychology programmes also received full accreditation status.

Speaking on the development, EKSU Vice Chancellor, Professor Babatola Ayodele, described the news as “a dream come true and a product of tireless efforts by the academic and administrative staff of the University.” He added that EKSU remains committed to offering top-quality education to Nigerian youth in vital areas of national development.

Professor Ayodele also expressed gratitude to key figures for their ongoing support of the institution. These include the Governor of Ekiti State and Visitor to the university, Biodun Oyebanji; the Chancellor, Dr. Tunji Olowolafe; and the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Akin Oyebode.
