The Yobe State Police have successfully rescued a 22-year-old woman who was kidnapped earlier this month in Tashan Randa village, located in Fika Local Government Area of the state.
According to reports, the incident occurred on May 6, 2025, when unknown gunmen stormed the residence of Alhaji Maikudi, the victim’s father. The armed attackers broke into the house at night and forcefully took the young woman away. During the violent raid, one girl from a nearby house was injured by stray bullets fired by the kidnappers.
Following the abduction, the kidnappers reportedly contacted the victim’s family and demanded a ransom of N5 million for her release. The terrifying situation caused panic in the quiet village and surrounding areas.
The spokesperson of the Yobe State Police Command, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, revealed that officers from the Fika Divisional Police Headquarters acted swiftly after receiving the report of the incident.
He said the division began a thorough investigation, combining intelligence-gathering with search operations, which eventually led to the location of the criminals’ hideout.
