Zulum Offers Scholarship to Children of CJTF Members Killed in IED Blast

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has pledged to support the children of eight Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) members who lost their lives in a tragic explosion caused by an improvised explosive device (IED). The incident happened on Tuesday along the Dikwa-Marte Road in Borno State, one of the regions deeply affected by years of insurgency.

During a visit on Thursday to Fezzan Ward in Maiduguri, where the families of the deceased CJTF members live, Governor Zulum expressed deep sorrow over the loss. He met with grieving family members and offered words of comfort, acknowledging the sacrifices made by the CJTF in the fight against insecurity in the region.

In a move to provide lasting support, Zulum announced that the state government would provide scholarships to the children of the fallen CJTF operatives. The governor said this would help ensure that the children continue their education despite the loss of their breadwinners.

Alongside the scholarship offer, Zulum also declared immediate financial assistance for the bereaved families. “I want to announce an initial assistance of N5 million to be given to each of the family to take care of their immediate needs,” the governor said during his visit.

The CJTF is a local volunteer security group that has worked closely with the Nigerian military in battling insurgents across Borno State. Over the years, many members have paid the ultimate price in the line of duty. The recent IED attack is yet another painful reminder of the dangers these brave individuals face every day.

Governor Zulum noted that the state would not forget the efforts and dedication of the CJTF. He added that steps are being taken to further support their families and strengthen local security operations.
