The Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Abba Moro, has spoken out against a deadly attack that recently struck the Edikwu-Ankpali community in Apa Local Government Area.
Visiting the area on Thursday with other political leaders, Moro described the assault as senseless and unacceptable, declaring that the people would no longer tolerate such violent acts.
The visit followed a deadly incident where suspected herders reportedly attacked the village, leaving at least eleven people dead, many wounded, and numerous others displaced from their homes. Residents are still recovering from the shock and loss caused by the attack, which has added to growing fears in the region.
Moro was joined during the visit by Hon. Ojotu Ojema, the House of Representatives member for Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency, along with local leaders and stakeholders. The group went through the community to assess the damage and speak directly with the affected residents.
“These killings and kidnappings are unprovoked and unacceptable. Our communities are under constant siege, and it is heartbreaking that despite all the cries for help, the attacks continue unabated,” Moro said while addressing the grieving villagers.
The senator noted the need for serious government attention and stressed that the safety of citizens must be made a priority. He also pointed out that despite previous appeals to federal security agencies, attacks like this continue to threaten peaceful communities across Benue South.
“I will not keep quiet. I will not retreat. I will continue to demand justice and security for our people. This is not just a political responsibility, it is a moral obligation,” he added.
