NAF Airstrikes Kill Terrorists, Destroy Hideouts in Borno State

The Nigerian Air Force has confirmed the success of recent airstrikes on terrorist hideouts in Borno State. The operation, which was part of ongoing counter-terrorism efforts, took place on June 5 and 6, targeting areas believed to be key locations for Boko Haram fighters in the Southern Tumbuns region.

According to a statement released on Saturday by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the Director of Public Relations and Information at the NAF Headquarters, the air force launched these strikes under Operation HADIN KAI. The operation focused on the Tumbumma Baba and Chiralia areas, where intelligence reports had pointed to terrorist camps and infrastructure.

The air force noted that the air raids led to the destruction of important logistics points used by the insurgents. These included storage units and buildings used to plan and coordinate attacks. The operation was conducted just days before the Eid celebrations, with the aim of disrupting any potential attacks the terrorists might have been planning during the festive season.

“In a series of precision airstrikes conducted on 5 and 6 June 2025, the Nigerian Air Force, under Operation HADIN KAI, decimated key Boko Haram hideouts at Tumbumma Baba and Chiralia in the Southern Tumbuns, Borno State.

“Acting on credible intelligence, NAF aircraft targeted terrorist structures reportedly used for storage and coordination, delivering direct hits and crippling planned attacks aimed at disrupting Eid celebrations.

“Battle Damage Assessments confirmed the neutralisation of several terrorists and the destruction of key logistics structures. This pre-emptive action underscores the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to safeguarding civilian lives and supporting national security objectives.”

Ejodame also noted that these attacks were carefully planned to reduce any risk to civilians in the area. The strikes were described as precise, following solid intelligence from ground sources and surveillance.
