The founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, popularly known as Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, has revealed a personal promise he made to God early in his ministry. According to him, he vowed to build 1,000 churches before he dies.
During a sermon, Oyedepo recalled the moment he made this commitment. “Before I had the first bank account, I said, ‘Jesus, if you ever bless me, I want to be part of building new churches,’” he told his listeners. This promise came at a time when he had very little, showing the strength of his faith and vision for expanding his church.
He noted that many people have heard his story before but took the opportunity to remind everyone of the seriousness of his goal. Oyedepo explained that his goal is not just about numbers but about leaving a lasting legacy of faith and service. He said, “I told Jesus, I don’t want to come to heaven without a thousand churches built in your name.” This statement reveals how deeply he desires to impact the world for his faith.
In addition to sharing his own commitment, Oyedepo challenged members of his church to think about their own level of dedication. He asked them to consider whether they are fully using their gifts and resources to serve God. He gave a simple example by mentioning some church members who own buses but do not use them for church activities on Sundays.
