The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State is mourning the death of Hon. Musbau Ashafa, the Executive Chairman of Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area (LCDA), who passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025, after a prolonged illness.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Lagos APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, described Ashafa’s death as a deep personal and political loss. Ojelabi, clearly moved, said, “The news of your passing, dear Hon. Musbau Ashafa, has left me with a heavy heart.”
He further noted that Ashafa’s leadership and dedication to grassroots development helped strengthen the party’s presence and service delivery in the Oto-Awori area. “As Chairman of Oto-Awori LCDA, you played a pivotal role in shaping grassroots politics, leaving an indelible mark on our community,” he said.
Ashafa, who was in his second term as LCDA chairman, had a long history of public service. Before his latest role, he served as the APC Chairman in Otto-Awori LCDA and was previously the Chairman of the old Ojo Local Government during the military regime of General Sani Abacha.
Pastor Ojelabi reflected on their longstanding relationship, noting that he had worked with Ashafa during his time as Ojo Local Government Chairman. He praised Ashafa’s tireless efforts and his ability to unite people, saying, “Your tireless efforts, unwavering commitment, and selfless service earned you the respect and admiration of us all.”
He also pointed out the unfortunate timing of Ashafa’s passing, coming just weeks before the local government elections. According to Ojelabi, Ashafa was nearing the end of his eight-year tenure, and his experience would have been vital during the upcoming political activities.
In his condolence message, Ojelabi sent his sympathies to Ashafa’s family, friends, and the wider APC family. He prayed for comfort and strength for those affected by the loss.
“May your soul rest in peace, dear Ashafa. Your contributions to our party and community will never be forgotten,” the APC chairman concluded.
