Scores Killed, Others Kidnapped as Bandits Attack Tadurga Village in Kebbi

Suspected bandits launched a deadly assault on Tadurga village in the Zuru Local Government Area of Kebbi State late Monday night, leaving behind a trail of destruction. Residents say the attackers stormed the village in large numbers, opening fire on people and looting properties before abducting several villagers and rustling livestock.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with gunshots ringing through the night and villagers fleeing for safety. One of the residents, Audu Sule, shared his experience of the horrifying attack. “They came en masse, shooting indiscriminately, broke into shops to loot items, then went on to kill as many as they could, abduct people, and rustle our cows,” Sule said.

Many residents were caught completely off guard by the scale and brutality of the attack. According to Sule, this is the deadliest incident the community has seen since Governor Nasir Idris took office. He noted that although security had improved for a time, the latest assault has sparked fresh fears.

Another resident, Abdullah Zuru, noted that before this tragedy, efforts by the state government had shown progress. He said those actions helped reduce violent attacks in the region and allowed farmers to return to their land. “Despite this recent attack, Zuru Emirate has been experiencing relative peace,” he added.
