The Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos has adjourned the fraud trial involving well-known music promoter, Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu ThankGod, also known as Eezee Tee, until September 26, 2025.

The case, which centers around claims of foreign exchange misconduct and money laundering, was initially brought before another judge but has since been reassigned.

ThankGod and his company, Eezee Global Concepts Limited, are currently facing serious legal accusations. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), through its Lagos Zonal Directorate 2, charged the duo on May 7, 2025. The amended charge includes seven counts, all connected to alleged foreign exchange violations and laundering a total of $397,106.

Previously, the trial was being heard by Justice Owoeye. However, the matter is now under the jurisdiction of Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke, who has been presiding over the recent developments.

One of the major accusations states: “That you, EZEKIEL ONYEDIKACHUWU THANKGOD and EEZEE GLOBAL CONCEPTS LIMITED, sometime in June 2023 in Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, not being an authorized buyer of foreign exchange currency appointed by the Central Bank of Nigeria under Section 5(1) of Foreign Exchange Monitoring and Miscellaneous (Provisions) Act CAP F34 LFN 2004 negotiated a foreign exchange transaction to wit: the Naira equivalent of the sum of $52,895.00 (Fifty Two Thousand, Eight Hundred Ninety Five USD) with Mr. Oladotun Olaobaju Mureke and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 5 and 29(1)(c) of the Foreign Exchange Monitoring and Miscellaneous (Provisions) Act Cap F34 LFN 2004 and punishable under Section 29(2) of the same Act.”

During the session on June 20, the EFCC’s legal representative, Bilkisu Buhari-Bala, introduced the first witness in the case, Mohammed Timta. While the prosecution appeared ready to proceed, the defence took a different approach.

Chikaosolu Ojukwu SAN, the defence lawyer, informed the court that both parties were working toward a possible settlement. He noted that the defence was “on the verge of reaching an agreement” and appealed for more time. He added, “if we are unable to reach a resolution, the prosecution will commence trial.”

Following this, Justice Aneke agreed to delay further proceedings, scheduling the next hearing for September 26, 2025.
