President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has lashed out at the politicians reportedly planning a coalition to block his second-term ambition in 2027, calling them political “internally displaced persons”.
Speaking during the commissioning of major projects in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, on Wednesday, Tinubu praised Governor Abdullahi Sule for his leadership and dedication to the development of the state. According to the President, Sule’s achievements reflect the broader impact of his own federal administration.
Tinubu noted, “Sule is doing well because a Bola Tinubu is doing well, too.”
He further praised the Nasarawa governor for using state funds wisely to support the people. “I could see hard work coming from A.A Sule, who is determined to use the resources available to him for the benefit, stability, and prosperity of Nasarawa State,” he added.
The President also promised that the federal government would continue to stand by Nasarawa in its drive for growth.
Turning to the opposition’s reported efforts to stop his re-election, Tinubu dismissed the idea of the coalition, which is believed to include political heavyweights like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Governor Nasiru El-Rufai. He described their move as premature and lacking direction.
“Those who have triggered the early politics in the perdition of coalition suddenly. Don’t pay them any attention; they are the political IDPs. Don’t give them a home; the hope is here,” Tinubu said, urging the public to ignore the opposition.
He stated that he is aware of attempts to destabilize his political plans but stressed he will not remain quiet while plots are being made.
“I’m not geared for what they tried to pull on me. Early political campaign but who is the politician who will keep quiet when the gangsters are forming a coalition to unseat themselves.”
Despite the current economic situation, Tinubu assured Nigerians that his government has made serious steps toward recovery and change.
“We’ve cut the waste. I won’t say much on the economic dynamism that we’re facing, but the hope is here. From this moment on, you’ll have no regret,” he said.
