Two ‘ADA’ Applied for Party Registration – INEC

Two political associations hoping to become officially registered political parties have applied to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), both using the same acronym — ADA.

One of the two groups is known as the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), led by Chief Akin Ricketts.

According to reports, this group is part of a larger political plan by individuals and parties opposing President Bola Tinubu’s re-election. It is believed that this version of ADA is being considered as a possible platform to challenge the ruling party in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

INEC has listed Ricketts’ All Democratic Alliance as number 109 in its updated list of 110 political associations seeking registration.

Just after it, at number 110, is another group using the same ADA acronym — the Advanced Democratic Alliance. This second group is headed by Alhaji Ahmadu Suleiman, who is listed as Protem Chairman, while Zipporah Pius Miracles serves as its Secretary.

Both organizations are listed separately in INEC’s records, despite sharing the same acronym. Their national offices are located in different parts of Abuja.

The All Democratic Alliance (Ricketts’ ADA) has its headquarters at Ground Floor, UAC Complex, Plot 273 Samuel Adesujo Ademulegun Street, Central Business District, Abuja. Meanwhile, the Advanced Democratic Alliance (Suleiman’s ADA) is located at 1 Frandriance Close, Off Oda Crescent, Off Aminu Kano Crescent, Wuse 2, Abuja.

INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu has noted that the commission has received applications from 110 different groups requesting to become political parties ahead of the next general elections. Each application is being reviewed based on the rules laid out in the Nigerian constitution and the Electoral Act.
