Abductors of Benue Links Bus Passengers Demand N350m Ransom

Abductors of passengers who were taken from a Benue Links bus in Okpokwu Local Government Area have asked for N350 million before they will release the victims.

The passengers were kidnapped on July 22 when armed men suspected to be bandits stopped the state-run commercial bus and forced the travelers into the bush at gunpoint. It is believed the group behind the act is experienced in targeting public vehicles in remote areas.

A family member of one of the victims, Terna Agbecha, has shared more details about the current situation. He said his cousin, Hembadoon Akume, was among those kidnapped during the bus attack.

According to Agbecha, the kidnappers have already made contact with the family and shared their demands.

“They called and asked for N350 million. Our elder sister has paid N500,000, but they refused to set her free,” he said.
