Panic gripped Udei community in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State on Sunday after a deadly encounter involving armed men believed to be herdsmen, which reportedly resulted in the death of three police officers.
According to people who witnessed the incident, the attackers ambushed the officers while they were on duty.
The gunmen are also said to have taken away the officers’ rifles before escaping from the area. The situation caused fear and confusion among residents, who have grown increasingly concerned about their safety.
At the time of this report, the Benue State Police Command had not made any official comment or given details about the incident.
