Immediate Past President Muhammadu Buhari has been sick for a while and only recently discharged from an Intensive Care Unit in a UK hospital, Empowered Newswire reports.
The former President who has been away from the country is reportedly now recovering in London and is expected back in Nigeria once he is fully recovered.
A close relative of the President disclosed to Empowered Newswire that President Buhari who had himself announced he was going abroad for medical check-up took ill while in the UK and had to be moved to the Intensive Care Unit and only left the ICU last week.
But the nature of his ailments are still kept under wraps.
Similarly, President Buhari’s close uncle and confidant Mallam Mamman Daura himself is also convalescing in the UK at the same time according to informed sources.
It would be recalled that last month the former President expressed regret over his inability to be present at the historic gathering celebrating 50 years of Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS.
He said in a public statement then that ongoing medical assessments in the UK required his attention.
“Regrettably,… I am currently in the United Kingdom undergoing routine medical check-ups and therefore unable to attend this historic event,” Buhari had stated then.
