JUST IN: Official Unveiling of ADC Suffers Setback as Abuja Hotel Abruptly Booking

A planned unveiling of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a new political platform for Nigeria’s opposition faced a major disruption on Wednesday after the hotel meant to host the event in Abuja pulled out of the agreement just hours before it was to begin.

The event was to take place at the Wells Carlton Hotel and Apartments in Asokoro, Abuja, and serve as the official launch of the ADC as a collective force ahead of the 2027 general elections. According to the organisers, all arrangements had been finalised and payment was completed, but the hotel contacted them on Wednesday morning with unexpected news.

A message shared by Dele Momodu, a media figure and politician, showed the hotel’s sudden cancellation. The message read, “Dear Esteemed Patron, Thank you once again for choosing the Wells Carlton Hotel and Apartments.

“We sincerely regret to inform you that due to an internal compliance matter that has just come to our attention, we are unable to proceed with hosting your scheduled event.

“We are fully aware that the event is less than 24 hours away, and we deeply apologise for the timing and inconvenience this may cause.”
