Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday, took a direct swipe at political figures who have moved from one party to another since 1999.
Speaking proudly about the ongoing construction works under his supervision, Wike said that anyone following the Federal Capital Territory’s development would notice that projects are being commissioned almost daily by President Bola Tinubu.
He said that those constantly changing parties and those who once doubted his efforts would now see clear proof of real progress.
The Minister said, “Let people hear. Let those who don’t have vision, let those who are politically expired, let those, since 1999 have belonged to over 10 political parties, see what we are doing.
“Let those who have eyes see what the FCT administration under president Bola Ahmed Tinubu are doing to transform the FCT.
“I thank God that today makes it the 5th day that the president has commissioned projects and thank God that wherever they are and whichever channels they want to watch, they will see Mr President commissioning projects everyday. Today is the 15th day of the entire project commissioning. Friday will make it the 16th day.”
Wike also noted that he had taken a special interest in the construction of the Ushafa/War College Road project, stating that he had never personally monitored a project as closely as this one. He praised the contractor, describing the completed work as impressive and satisfactory.
President Tinubu, who was represented at the commissioning by Vice President Kashim Shettima, also gave praise to Wike. The Vice President noted that the satellite towns around Abuja are now witnessing major improvements, which are bringing new economic activities and job opportunities.
“We are not just building roads, we are building capacity. We are creating jobs,” Shettima said.
He also said that Wike was not only managing affairs but also performing with great energy and results. Shettima added that leaders in other positions across the country should learn from what is happening in the FCT and contribute to building a united and inclusive Nigeria.
Present at the ceremony were three of Wike’s former G-5 governor allies: Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, Samuel Ortom of Benue State, and Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State. Their attendance added to the political weight of the event and reflected continued support for Wike’s leadership in the capitalterritory.
