No fewer than 15 persons have been reportedly killed by bandits suspected to be members of Lakurawa in Kwallajiya village of Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
According to a local resident who spoke with our reporter but asked not to be named, the attackers stormed the village in broad daylight on Wednesday and began shooting at people without warning.
The attack caused chaos, forcing many to run into nearby bushes to escape. Unfortunately, some were not lucky enough to survive.
The source added that those who lost their lives were quickly laid to rest later that same evening, following Islamic burial customs.
“We are deeply concerned about the continued acts of violence and the suffering communities are experiencing at the hands of bandits in various parts of this state,” the resident said.
He also noted that one of the reasons such attacks keep happening may be because the criminals are getting inside information from people living in the same villages.
“We strongly believe that such atrocities are often aided by information the bandits receive from some residents of the villages.
“It is, therefore, imperative that the public also intensify efforts to cooperate with security agencies,” he added.
