The traditional ruler of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, has died at the age of 90.
According to information gathered, the Olubadan reportedly passed on in the early hours of Monday, during events marking his 90th birthday as well as the first anniversary of his coronation. His passing came as a surprise to many, especially as activities were still ongoing to celebrate his milestone age and his ascension to the throne.
Oba Olakulehin became Olubadan following the passing of the former monarch, Oba Lekan Balogun. His time on the throne was described as peaceful and respectful, and he was regarded as a symbol of unity and wisdom in Ibadanland.
Oba Olakulehin was known for his calm approach to leadership and was widely respected both within and outside Ibadan. His passing has left the city in mourning, with many residents expressing shock over the sudden loss.
