Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have taken out 24 terrorists in Borno and Adamawa States during a series of well-coordinated clearance and ambush missions spanning five days.
According to information provided by Capt. Reuben Kovangiya, the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations at the Theatre Command Headquarters, the operations ran from July 4 to July 9 and involved joint efforts with the Nigerian Air Force, the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and local hunters.
The operations kicked off on July 4 with troops staging an ambush at Platari. They confronted a group of insurgents riding bicycles from the Sambisa Forest toward the Timbuktu Triangle, resulting in the death of three terrorists.
On the same day, soldiers also intercepted a lone terrorist in the Komala area, where they recovered items including motorcycles, spare parts, pesticides, and food.
In a separate action that night, troops ambushed terrorists near Kawuri in Konduga LGA, killing two and recovering various logistics supplies like salt, detergent, and food seasonings.
By July 5, insurgents trying to enter the Madarari Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Konduga were intercepted, leading to the death of one terrorist and the recovery of ammunition.
Kovangiya said three more terrorists were eliminated during a fighting patrol in Leno Kura. The following day, July 6, troops targeted common insurgent routes between Ngoshe and Gava, Ngoshe and Ashigashiya, and Amuda and Gava. One terrorist was killed, while others managed to flee.
On July 7, two insurgents carrying logistics supplies were ambushed near Sabsawa village. Bicycles, batteries, torches, and other items were recovered from the scene.
Operations continued on July 8 with a major offensive at Bula Marwa, a known ISWAP and Boko Haram base.
One terrorist was killed, and several structures used by the insurgents were destroyed. Troops also cleared hideouts in Pambula village, Madagali LGA of Adamawa, where one insurgent was killed and four motorcycles along with a locally made gun were recovered.
The following day, July 9, troops and CJTF members stormed Tangalanga and Bula Marwa again, killing three more terrorists and seizing six AK-47 rifles, 47 magazines, and 90 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
More ambushes were conducted in Ngailda, Manjim, and Wulle villages in collaboration with hybrid forces, resulting in the deaths of six terrorists.
Kovangiya notes that these successful missions reflect the strong coordination between ground troops, air support, and community-based groups.
“The neutralisation of 24 terrorists underscores the determination and concerted efforts of OPHK to place insurgents on the back foot and create a secure environment for socio-economic recovery in the North East,” he said.
