There was mild tension in Maiduguri on Sunday, July 21, 2024, as news spread of a tragic incident involving a policeman who shot his own father.
The harrowing event unfolded near the State Police Command headquarters in the Modugannari area around 4:20 p.m. Sergeant Sunday Wadzani, who serves at the Borno State House of Assembly complex, allegedly shot his father, retired Assistant Superintendent of Police Wadzani Ntasiri, seven times.
According to sources, the incident stemmed from a minor dispute between the father and son, which quickly escalated into violence. Eyewitnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots, which created panic and chaos in the normally quiet neighborhood.
