Just In: Fuel Crisis Hits Zamfara Amid Upcoming Nationwide Protest

Fuel shortage has hit Zamfara with just few days before the planned nationwide hunger protest.Despite reassurances from the state Police Command that it will ensure the safety of residents during the demonstrations, many petrol stations have closed, leaving motorists scrambling for fuel.

Long queues have formed at the few petrol stations that remain open. Prices have soared, with petrol being sold for between N900 and N950 per litre. Frustration is mounting among drivers, who claim that station attendants are prioritizing black market buyers over those waiting in line.

Usman Musa, a local resident, expressed his dissatisfaction: “Many of us have been in the queue for many hours but the line was not moving accordingly.”

The situation appears dire as station managers admit they do not have enough fuel to meet demand. One station supervisor stated, “The fuel available may not reach all the customers waiting to buy the product.”

Adding to the crisis, the NNPC mega station in Gusau, the state capital, has also shut down. A motorist noted the difficulties in obtaining fuel there, “We find it very difficult getting fuel at the NNPC mega station in Gusau, the state capital. Even now, the NNPC mega station has no fuel.”

During a visit to the NNPC mega station, the premises were found closed, with management citing a lack of fuel supply. One of the attendants mentioned that they were waiting for a delivery from the depot in Gusau.
