Tony Elumelu, the Chairman of the United Bank for Africa (UBA) and Heirs Holdings, has finally addressed rumors regarding his potential bid for the Nigerian presidency in 2027.
In a recent interview with the Financial Times, Elumelu, a prominent business leader, shared his thoughts on the matter, shedding light on his perspective about leadership and his role in Nigeria’s future.
During the interview, Elumelu expressed frustration with the country’s past leadership but emphasized that not everyone needs to hold the highest office to bring about meaningful change.
When directly asked if he had plans to run for president, the 61-year-old mogul responded with a laugh, saying, “People ask me this question. All of us don’t have to be president, but what we all want is good leadership. We will coalesce around people we believe are providing good leadership.”
