Just In: PDP Chairman Beaten To Coma by Angry Delegates During Primary Election in Plateau

Honorable Christopher Audu, the Chairman of the Transition Implementation Committee (TIC) for Qua’an Pan Local Government Area in Jos, Plateau State, was brutally beaten by delegates during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary election. The attack reportedly left him in a critical condition.

The incident occurred during the primary election held on Thursday. Initially, the process was peaceful, but tensions escalated when Audu was declared the winner. This sparked outrage among some of the delegates who believed the election had been manipulated.

An eyewitness, Michael Bulus, shared his account of the event with Daily Trust, stating that chaos erupted when delegates and other PDP members, who had been denied entry into the election hall, forced their way in. Once inside, they confronted Audu and violently attacked him.

Bulus said, “The mob beat up Hon Audu without mercy while complaining that he manipulated the process to emerge winner of the primaries.

“It was further alleged that Hon Audu handpicked his loyalists to be delegates at the election while blocking the real delegates from accessing the venue to exercise their franchise.”

After suffering severe injuries, Hon Audu was quickly evacuated from the scene and rushed to an undisclosed location for medical treatment. The mob also allegedly attacked officials from the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC), who were present to oversee the election process.
