Arsenal has officially entered the competition to secure Ademola Lookman from Atalanta, according to recent reports. The Premier League club is reportedly prepared to offer €50 million and include Jakub Kiwior as part of the transfer deal.
Lookman, a Nigerian international known for his attacking prowess, had been a target for Paris Saint-Germain recently. However, interest from the French champions appears to have diminished.
Lookman was seen in action against Real Madrid during the UEFA Super Cup last Wednesday, but he requested to be excluded from Atalanta’s Serie A opening match against Lecce on Monday.
Furthermore, he was absent from training on Wednesday, a situation Sport Italia’s transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà attributes to his refusal to participate.
Arsenal’s proposed bid includes €50 million plus potential bonuses, with Kiwior potentially being part of the deal to reduce the transfer fee. There is also the possibility of Kiwior joining on loan with an option to purchase. Despite this, Atalanta remains keen on retaining the 26-year-old winger.
The Serie A club is reportedly prepared to offer Lookman a substantial wage increase to keep him at the club. Last season, Lookman impressed with 17 goals and 10 assists across 45 appearances, demonstrating his significant impact on the pitch.
