Arsenal To Hijack Move for Lookman as PSG Transfer Hits Snag

Arsenal has been handed a significant boost in their quest to sign Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, following a setback in Paris Saint-Germain’s (PSG) attempts to secure the player. According to Sky Sports transfer expert Florian Plettenberg, PSG has encountered difficulties in meeting Atalanta’s asking price for the talented attacker, which has caused negotiations to stall.

The 26-year-old winger is reportedly eager to join the French champions, having already agreed on personal terms. However, a deal between the two clubs has yet to be finalized, leaving Lookman in limbo. PSG remains Lookman’s preferred destination, but with no agreement reached on the transfer fee, the chances of a move to Paris are beginning to fade. This opens the door for other clubs, such as Arsenal, to make their move.

Arsenal has been closely monitoring Lookman’s situation and could swoop in for the player, who is valued at approximately £51 million. With PSG currently unable to secure his signature, Arsenal may try to capitalize on the opportunity to bring the Nigerian international to the Emirates Stadium. Notably, Lookman shares the same agency as Arsenal midfielder Kai Havertz, which could work in Arsenal’s favor in securing the deal.

Lookman, who joined Atalanta from RB Leipzig in 2022, has been an impressive figure in Serie A, scoring 24 goals in 62 matches. However, speculation surrounding his future has intensified after being left out of Atalanta’s squad for two consecutive games, including their recent match against Torino.

Lookman made headlines last season when he became a fan favorite in Bergamo, especially after his historic hat-trick in the Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen. His three goals helped Atalanta clinch their first-ever European trophy on May 22, a feat that also marked Lookman as the first player to score a hat-trick in a European final since 1969.

As PSG struggles to finalize the deal, Arsenal will be hoping to make a late push to sign the highly sought-after forward before the transfer window closes.
