Arise News’ Rufai Oseni, has publicly countered the claims made by Nigeria’s First Lady, Remi Tinubu, regarding the existence of a budget for the Office of the First Lady. His statement comes in response to claims that there is no budget allocated for her office.
Speaking on Arise TV “The Morning Show”, Oseni criticized the First Lady’s claim by referencing the supplementary budget from the previous year. He pointed out specific allocations that contradict her statement.
“I disagree with the First Lady. There is a budget for that office,” Oseni asserted, citing the supplementary budget from last year that allocated significant funds for projects and expenses linked to the Office of the First Lady.
He specifically highlighted allocations such as the acquisition, renovation, and rehabilitation of staff quarters in Guzape, which were budgeted at 1.5 billion Naira.
Additionally, Oseni noted the allocation for the purchase of vehicles for the Office of the First Lady, which also amounted to 1.5 billion Naira.
In his words; “I disagree with the first lady, there is a budget for that office, ah ah what is it. In the supplementary budget of last year, acquisition, renovation and rehabilitation of staff quarters in Guzape was 1.5billion, purchase of vehicles for the office of the first lady is 1.5 billion.”
“So what is she saying, let’s call a spade a spade. I know she has been doing a good job, but let people state the fact the way it should be stated. If I could remember, there was a supplementary budget last year and I remember it caused a big challenge that why are we buying cars for the office of the first lady, 1.5billion and now you are say there is not budget for the office of the first lady.”
