Rema Donates N105 Million to Christ Embassy, Explains Decision

Nigerian afrobeat sensation Divine Ikubor, widely known as Rema, recently donated N105 million to the Christ Embassy church in Benin City, Edo State, founded by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome.

During a church service on Sunday, Rema took the opportunity to explain the reasons behind his generous donation, reflecting on his personal connection to the church and how it supported his family during a difficult time in his life.

Rema recounted that when he was just eight years old, his father passed away, leaving his family feeling lost and abandoned.

“When I was eight years old, when I lost my dad, we felt very lost and abandoned. All that we had was taken from us and we felt very alone,” he shared.

Rema spoke fondly of the kindness shown by Pastor Joy and Pastor Thomas of Christ Embassy, who opened a shop for his mother, which helped his family to survive during those challenging times.

Acknowledging the impact of the church on his life, Rema emphasized the importance of giving back to the community that had embraced and prayed for him throughout his journey.

“I’m not here to give myself any accolades or glory. I’m here to give God the glory. I feel like it is important to give back because the church has embraced, and prayed for me, and has kept me very consistent with my spirit,” he said.

Rema broke down his N105 million donation into specific pledges: N40 million towards the church’s infrastructure, N20 million to support Rhapsody of Realities, N25 million for the teen church infrastructure, and N20 million to assist widows within the church.
