Police Raid Drug Hideout, Arrest 40 Suspects in Asaba

The Delta State Police Command has arrested 40 suspects at a known criminal hotspot near Swees Spirit Hotel Junction in Asaba, the capital of Delta State. The raid, which took place on Tuesday night, was carried out by the police in collaboration with other security agencies.

According to sources, the operation was launched following reliable information about a drug hideout where illegal drug trade was causing widespread harm to the community. The police and their partners moved swiftly to address the situation.

During the raid, the suspects attempted to escape by fleeing into a nearby storm drainage along Okpanam Road. However, the quick response and coordinated efforts of the police ensured that all 40 individuals were apprehended.

A security source described the operation as a clear message to drug dealers and other criminals in the state, emphasizing the commitment of the security forces to tackle the drug menace. The source said, “The raid would serve as a strong deterrent to those who believe that engaging in such illegal activities is business as usual.”

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrests, stating, “Yes, it is true, we raided the area last night and arrested 40 suspects. Although we are yet to make it official, we are planning to issue a press release to that effect.”
