“No Plan To Sack Workers” – Gov. Alex Otti Debunks Rumors of Mass Retrenchment

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has firmly denied rumors suggesting that his administration plans to conduct mass retrenchment of civil servants.

Speaking at a media session in Umuahia on Friday night, Governor Otti dismissed these speculations as unfounded and attributed them to his detractors.

“I have not thought about the alleged looming retrenchment,” Otti said, responding to questions on the matter. He assured the public that there are no plans for large-scale job cuts, emphasizing his administration’s focus on enhancing the civil service and boosting productivity.

“There is no any massive retrenchment in the pipeline. We will continue to ensure that the civil service is enhanced and productivity increased,” Otti stated.

Reaffirming his dedication to workers’ welfare, Governor Otti highlighted that under his leadership, Abia State employees now receive their salaries by the 28th of each month, a significant improvement compared to the past.

He also pledged to settle the outstanding salary arrears accumulated by previous administrations, saying, “The debts were inherited and I will pay them. In a few days, those payments will happen.”
