Persons with disabilities in Osun State have called on Governor Ademola Adeleke to consider them in the ongoing teachers’ recruitment process. The Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), Osun State Chapter, is advocating for the inclusion of their members in the recruitment, emphasizing the need for equal opportunities.
In a statement released by the association’s Chairman, Stephen Oluwafemi, the group stressed the importance of implementing the state’s disability law, which was passed but has yet to be put into action.
The association is urging the government to ensure that persons with disabilities receive fair representation in the hiring process, alongside other demands to make state employment more inclusive.
“We call on the government to ensure that persons with disabilities are given fair representation and equal opportunities in the recruitment process.
“The implementation of this bill will not only improve the lives of persons with disabilities but also enhance the socio-economic development of Osun State. We, therefore, appeal to the government to ensure inclusive recruitment processes in all state government agencies, provide reasonable accommodations and support services for persons with disabilities, and allocate sufficient resources for the implementation of the bill.
“We are confident that the Osun State Government will take prompt action to implement the Disability Bill, and we look forward to working together to create a more inclusive society”.
