The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has made a firm commitment to protect its votes in the upcoming local government elections scheduled for October 24, 2024. This was revealed by the state chairman of the party, Abdullahi Abbas, during a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday.
Abbas emphasized the party’s readiness to participate in the elections and expressed confidence in its supporters. He mentioned that the APC is gearing up for primary elections, which will determine its candidates for the 44 local government areas (LGAs) in Kano. He highlighted that the party is mobilizing its members and doing everything possible to ensure a strong presence at the polls.
“We are doing everything humanly possible to ensure that our teeming supporters participate in the elections. APC is mobilizing its supporters to participate in the elections, with focus on protecting votes and ensuring a peaceful process,” Abbas said during the interview.
The party leader also made an appeal to the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC), urging the body to provide a level playing field for all parties involved. He called for free, fair, and credible elections that allow every contestant to compete without bias. Abbas stressed that a transparent process is essential for Nigeria’s democratic growth.
“We demand equal opportunity from the commission for all contestants to participate without showing any bias.
“We also demand a transparent electoral process in addition to a peaceful atmosphere for the entire elections.
“The party has embarked on house-to-house sensitisation of its teeming supporters to come out en-mass and participate in the Oct. 24, local government elections across the 44 LGs,” he assured.
