Ondo Local Council Elections: NNPP Commences Sale of Forms for Aspirants

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Ondo State has officially launched the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination forms ahead of the upcoming local government elections, scheduled for January 18, 2025. This initiative marks the start of the party’s preparations for the polls, as it aims to encourage diverse participation in local governance.

In a statement released by the State Publicity Secretary, Oluwafemi Olaleye, the party announced that the sale of forms would run from September 30 to October 18, 2024. Prospective candidates are expected to secure their forms within this period if they wish to contest various local government positions in the state.

To promote inclusivity and encourage participation from underrepresented groups, the NNPP is offering a 50% discount on nomination forms for women, persons living with disabilities (PWDs), and youths aged 30 and below. This decision reflects the party’s commitment to ensuring equal opportunities for all segments of society. The Expression of Interest form will be sold at a flat rate to all aspirants.

Speaking on the importance of the elections, Olaleye emphasized that the NNPP is focused on creating a system of governance that prioritizes development, transparency, and accountability at the grassroots level.

He said, “We are excited to open the portal for our candidates. This is a pivotal moment for those who wish to serve their communities and make a meaningful impact in local governance.

“We believe that a truly representative government must include voices from all walks of life.

“This initiative reflects our dedication to inclusivity and the belief that everyone has a role to play in the governance of our communities.

“We understand that financial barriers can deter many qualified individuals from running for of? By offering these rebates, we aim to empower women, persons living with disabilities, and youths under the age of 30 to participate in our democratic process.”
