25-Year-Old Arrested for Allegedly Stabbing His Father to Death in Lagos

A 25-year-old man, Chibunna Chiemelie, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly stabbing his father to death. The tragic incident took place at their residence on Oba Kabiru Street, in the Isolo area of Lagos.

According to reports, Chiemelie was arrested after a neighbor informed the police about the violent altercation between Chiemelie and his 68-year-old father, Mr. Chiemelie. The disturbing event occurred on October 3, 2024, at around 9:30 pm.

The Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest, stating that Chiemelie confessed to the crime during police questioning. Hundeyin provided more details on the circumstances leading to the arrest, explaining how the situation unfolded.

Hundeyin said, “The incident occurred on October 3, 2024, at around 9:30 pm, when a complainant reported to the Aswani Division that he had received a call from his father’s neighbour. The neighbour informed him that his father, Mr Chiemelie, aged 68, was in an altercation with his son.”

The complainant, who was reportedly concerned after hearing about the fight, hurried to the family home. Upon arriving at the scene, he was met with the horrific sight of his father’s lifeless body lying in a pool of blood. The police were immediately notified of the situation.

Upon receiving the report, officers from the Aswani Police Division were dispatched to the scene of the crime. There, they discovered a blood-stained knife near the deceased, which is believed to be the weapon used in the attack.

As part of the police investigation, officers took photographs of the crime scene and transported the victim’s body to the General Hospital in Isolo. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, Mr. Chiemelie was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. His body has since been moved to the mortuary for further examination.

Chiemelie was arrested soon after the incident and is currently in police custody. During interrogation, he reportedly confessed to killing his father. The investigation is still ongoing as authorities work to uncover the full details behind the deadly altercation.
