Barrister Gboyega Oguntuase, the former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, has made startling claims against former Governor Ayodele Fayose.
He accused Fayose of acting as a “spy” for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and working against the interests of the PDP.
In a press conference held in Ado Ekiti, Oguntuase addressed concerns regarding Fayose’s behavior and the reasons for his continued membership in the PDP despite numerous alleged anti-party activities. These activities include Fayose’s refusal to support the PDP’s 2023 presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, while openly endorsing Bola Tinubu of the APC. Oguntuase pointed out that these actions have raised serious questions about Fayose’s loyalty to the party.
Oguntuase also noted that Fayose’s recent support for the re-election of current Ekiti State Governor Abayomi Oyebanji for the 2026 elections has further alarmed party members. Many are worried that Fayose’s actions could undermine the PDP’s position in the state and impact its chances in future elections.
“Fayose has made it clear that he is not loyal to the PDP. We are more concerned about rebuilding our party, and we don’t have time to dignify him,” Oguntuase stated firmly. His remarks reflect a strategic shift within the PDP, focusing on uniting loyal members and strengthening the party’s foundations rather than expelling those who may not share its goals.
Oguntuase emphasized that including Fayose in the party’s strategic planning would be unwise, given his apparent support for the opposition. He believes the party must prioritize its long-term objectives and ensure that all members are aligned with its mission.
