The Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle, has openly criticized former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, accusing him of making statements that could cause unrest in Nigeria. Matawalle believes Amaechi’s remarks are harmful and could provoke violence and instability across the country.
According to a statement released by Henshaw Ogubike, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence, Matawalle expressed deep concerns over Amaechi’s recent comments. He strongly warned Amaechi against making any further inflammatory remarks that might pose a threat to Nigeria’s peace and security.
The statement quoted Dr. Matawalle, who said, “It is both reckless and irresponsible for a former public servant of Amaechi’s standing to incite Nigerians against their own government.” He emphasized that such behavior from a former high-ranking official like Amaechi is unacceptable, especially during this critical period.
Matawalle said, “It is both reckless and irresponsible for a former public servant of Amaechi’s standing to incite Nigerians against their own government”.
“At a time when President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working tirelessly to address the challenges facing the nation through various reforms that are yielding results.
“It is absurd, preposterous and shameful for anyone to exploit the genuine situation of our citizens for selfish political gain.”
“We will not allow anyone to fuel violence or manipulate the prevailing situation of our people.
“Let this serve as a final warning to Amaechi and his cohorts,” Dr. Matawalle said.
He cautioned Amaechi not to cast aspersions on government’s genuine intentions for the people
“It is expected that Amaechi joins hand with the Government to move the country forward, rather he chose to stay aside with myopic assertions,” Marawalle added.
