Obaseki, Okpebholo begin joint sitting of Transition Committee Friday

The Edo State Joint Transition Committee, comprising members from the current state government and the All Progressives Congress (APC), will hold its first joint sitting on Friday.

This meeting is being organized in preparation for the smooth handover of the government to Senator Monday Okpebholo in November.

The announcement of this significant development was made by the Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare.

He shared the details during a press briefing, where he confirmed that the inaugural meeting will take place at the John Odigie-Oyegun Public Service Academy (JOOPSA) at 10 a.m. on Friday.

The meeting marks the formal start of the transition process, aimed at ensuring that all government responsibilities are handed over smoothly to the incoming administration.

Nehikhare noted that the Edo State government had officially received the names of the APC’s Transition Committee members in response to an earlier letter sent to the party.

This formal acknowledgment confirms that both sides are prepared to work together on the upcoming government transition.

“The primary objective of the Transition Committee is to facilitate a smooth handing over of government. We look forward to the collaborative efforts of all members in ensuring a seamless transition,” Nehikhare said during the briefing.

The committee from the state government side is led by Mr. Joseph Eboigbe, who serves as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and is the chairman of the transition team.

The team also includes key officials like Eire Ifueko Alufohai Esq, the secretary and coordinator of the committee, along with several advisors and members such as Mr. Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi, Isoken Omo, and Joan Oviawe.

Other members from the state government side include professionals and civil servants, such as Mrs. Osaro Aihie, Dr. Stanley Ehiarimwian, and Mrs. Akhigbe Joy. The committee also brings in individuals from various sectors, ensuring a diverse and experienced group to handle the transition.

The APC side is led by Dr. Pius Odubu, who is serving as the chairman of their transition team. The APC team includes notable figures such as Dr. Pharm. Matthew Urhoghide, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, and Barrister Andrew Adaze Enwanta, among others.
