EFCC Re-Arrests Bobrisky at Lagos Airport Just Days After Bail Release

Controversial social media figure and crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has been re-arrested by Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday evening.

This new arrest happened at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos, just days after Bobrisky had been granted bail following a previous encounter with law enforcement.

The re-arrest unfolded in dramatic fashion as Bobrisky prepared to board a flight bound for London. According to eyewitness accounts, authorities halted the plane moments before it was scheduled to take off.

Passengers were reportedly taken aback as EFCC officers escorted Bobrisky off the plane. The scene created a significant stir among the travelers who watched the unexpected interruption unfold.

Bobrisky soon took to social media to share his side of the story. In a post on his Instagram page, he wrote, “Nigerians help me, EFCC just arrested me. I’m badly injured.”

This incident adds to a series of recent legal troubles for Bobrisky. Just last week, he was reportedly detained by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) at the Seme border, an area near Nigeria’s border with Benin. Authorities believe Bobrisky was attempting to leave the country at that time.

This series of legal run-ins comes amid ongoing investigations into his actions following the release of an audio recording in which Bobrisky allegedly claimed to have special privileges that allowed him to serve a jail sentence outside of prison.

In the leaked recording, Bobrisky was heard allegedly saying that he could serve a six-month jail term outside Kirikiri prison, supposedly because of “influential connections.” This assertion caught the attention of law enforcement, leading to intensified scrutiny of his claims and possible breaches of the law.
