Ekiti Chief Judge Justice Oyewole Adeyeye Passes Away at 64

The Ekiti State Judiciary announced with sorrow the death of its Chief Judge, Justice Oyewole Adeyeye, who passed away at the age of 64 after a short illness.

The Chief Registrar of Ekiti State, Adegoke Olanike, confirmed his passing in an official statement, describing Justice Adeyeye as a dedicated figure who made significant contributions to the judicial system.

Justice Adeyeye, born in 1960 in Araromi Ugbesi, Ekiti East, embarked on his legal career after being called to the bar in 1986.

He initially served as a state counsel in the civil service of the former Ondo State before moving to Ekiti State Judiciary following its establishment in 1996.

His dedication to justice led to his appointment as a judge in the Ekiti State High Court in 2002, where he went on to serve with distinction.

Sworn in as Chief Judge on October 11, 2021, by then-Governor Kayode Fayemi, Justice Adeyeye was respected for his commitment to fairness, equity, and judicial integrity.

The statement from the Chief Registrar, expressing deep regret over his passing, said, “It is with profound sadness that the Chief Registrar of Ekiti State Judiciary, Adegoke Olanike, Esq., announces the passing of Ekiti State Chief Judge, Hon Justice John Oyewole Adeyeye, after a brief illness.

“The late Chief Judge was a respected jurist who dedicated his life to upholding the principles of fairness, equity, and justice.

“His contribution to the development of the judiciary and Ekiti State at large is immeasurable, and his legacy will be deeply missed.

“Further details will be announced in due course”.
