In preparation for the final stage of qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Nigeria’s Super Eagles interim coach, Austin Eguavoen, has unveiled a 23-man squad to face Benin and Rwanda.
The squad sees the return of star striker Victor Osimhen, alongside Sadiq Umar, as the Nigerian team aims to secure its spot in next year’s tournament, set to take place in Morocco.
Nigeria currently leads Group D with 10 points, having previously defeated Libya twice to accumulate six crucial points. With just one point needed to confirm their place at AFCON 2025, the Super Eagles are in a strong position as they prepare for these decisive matches.
The squad includes a mix of experienced players and new talent. For the goalkeeping department, Stanley Nwabali, Maduka Okoye, and Amas Obasogie have been selected.
The defense line features Bright Osayi-Samuel, Calvin Bassey, and William Troost-Ekong, while midfielders such as Alex Iwobi and Wilfred Ndidi are expected to provide strength and creativity in the middle.
Forwards Ademola Lookman, Samuel Chukwueze, and Victor Osimhen are poised to lead the attack, supported by other strong scorers like Moses Simon and Kelechi Iheanacho.
The Super Eagles are set to play Benin on November 14, followed by a home match in Uyo against Rwanda on November 18.
