JUST IN: Incoming Edo Governor Okpebholo Makes First Appointment

Senator Monday Okpebholo, the governor-elect of Edo State, has named seasoned journalist Fred Itua as his Chief Press Secretary. This appointment, announced by Okpebholo’s media team in Abuja, marks the first official appointment by the incoming administration ahead of the planned handover of power from the current governor, Godwin Obaseki, set for Tuesday.

Fred Itua, a respected journalist with a wealth of experience in Nigerian media, is stepping into this new role with strong credentials.

Known for his extensive reporting, Itua has previously worked with both Leadership and The Sun newspapers, where he covered topics ranging from governance and the National Assembly to critical issues such as migration, health, and anti-corruption. His expertise also extends to environmental topics, making him well-rounded in both national and global matters.

In terms of educational background, Itua is highly qualified. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma. Later, he obtained a Master’s degree in Media Arts from the University of Abuja. He is also nearing the completion of his PhD in Development Communication at Veritas University, Abuja.

Itua’s role will involve guiding the governor’s media relations and managing communication strategies to promote the administration’s initiatives.
