Obasanjo Sends Message To Aiyedatiwa Ahead of Ondo Governorship Election

Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo extended his support and best wishes to Ondo State’s Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, during a visit to Ondo on Monday.

The meeting took place at the state’s presidential lodge, where Obasanjo shared his insights and political experience with the governor, recognizing the challenging path of campaigning.

Obasanjo reflected on his own campaign days, recalling the energy required to navigate such a demanding schedule. “I understand the challenges of this period for you,” he shared, remembering his own intense campaign in 1999.

He added, “I think we started in Akure, Ondo State, then moved to Ekiti and reached Lagos around 8 pm. This is a crucial part of the process, and I wish you all the best.” His message conveyed respect for Aiyedatiwa’s efforts as he heads toward the election.

In response, Aiyedatiwa thanked Obasanjo for his visit and support, noting the former President’s lasting contributions to Nigeria. Aiyedatiwa expressed admiration for Obasanjo’s dedication to the country, highlighting his humility and compassion despite his distinguished background.

Meanwhile, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, representing Ondo South Senatorial District, voiced his commitment to securing an APC victory in the upcoming election. Addressing his supporters, known as the Aseyori Group, at Igbotako in Okitipupa, he encouraged them to ramp up their campaign efforts to keep Aiyedatiwa in office.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, represented by his deputy Dr. Olayide Adelami, also addressed the gathering. He emphasized the unity within the APC, urging voters to cast their ballots on November 16, ensuring a strong mandate. “No doubt, the APC will win this election, but we must win resoundingly,” he stated.
