The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially handed over the certificates of return to Ondo State Governor-elect, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and his deputy, Adelami Olayide. This marks a significant step in confirming their victory in the recent governorship election.
The presentation ceremony took place in Abuja on Wednesday and was overseen by Prof. Kunle Ajayi, the Supervisory National Commissioner for Ondo State. The event occurred just four days after INEC declared Aiyedatiwa the winner of the highly contested election held the previous Saturday.
Lucky Aiyedatiwa, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), emerged victorious by a wide margin. He defeated Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as well as 15 other candidates, securing votes across all 18 local government areas in the state. INEC reported that Aiyedatiwa received a total of 366,781 votes, while his closest rival, Ajayi, managed to garner 117,845 votes.
